Silkies are the best!
Silkies are unlike any other chicken breed. Their feathers are fuzzy, like fur, and they have big round topknots on their heads. Most silkies are sweet as pie and will happily follow you around or sit in your lap for loving. They lay a smallish egg that is beige in color.

Buff Silkies

Buff silkies come in a range of shades. Most breeders are trying to darken up the buff while keeping black out of the feathers. A good clear buff color is the goal. Black in the tail, topknot, and wing tips is a default for showing.
Silkies make great Broodies!
Silkies are determined broodies. They will try to hatch out just about anything. Unlike other broodies that can get mean, silkies stay sweet and happy. That means no bruises for you! My girls will growl at me if I mess with them too much while they are on the nest, but mostly they are just happy to have a clutch of eggs.
